Arjun Kapoor ; the industry’s latest Kapoor. Or, wait. Was that Sonam? I lose track of these things. Anyway, Arjun Kapoor, the angry son from 2 States, is turning 31 this June. He has had a good career so far, with at least three hits. He is best known for his role in 2 States.
He made his debut in the film industry as an Assistant Director in the movie 'Kal Ho Naa Ho.' That’s right. He was first introduced to the industry as an Assistant Director. He later made the jump to acting with his debut film Ishaqzaade. He was lauded for his performance in his film, and I think Ishaqzaade was crucial to his later success in the industry. He also worked as an Assistant Producer in a couple of his father’s films. His subsequent film Aurangzeb didn’t fare so well in the box office, but his performance was nonetheless appreciated. He then went on to act in the films '2 States' and 'Gunday', both of which performed magnificently in the market, thus earning him fame and money.
As a child he suffered from obesity. He often speaks about his days as a child and how he was under confident because of his weight. He often says how his physical transformation played a crucial role in his personal and professional life.
Off screen, he is known as one of the most light-hearted persons in the industry. He was involved with the AIB in their comedy event AIB Knockout, where a panel of comedians make offensive jokes about the willing participants. Arjun Kapoor was one of the participant in the event. He was appreciated by the comedian’s panel for being a sport and not being offended by the jokes aimed at him.
He has acted in 8 films so far and has two more coming up. His work fetched him quite a few awards and award nominations. In fact, his debut film, Ishaqzaade itself fetched him a Filmfare nomination. He looks up to Salman Khan for helping him with his weight. Despite coming from a family of filmmakers, he has in fact worked his way up in the industry. He started as an Assistant Director, and then became an Assistant Producer before moving on to acting.
Happy Birthday Arjun! May you get all that you wish for.
